Seriously guys, the bass/drums interplay is the main reason to jam Maiden. Although some of the lyrics are good too.

In all honesty, did Priest ever write lyrics that could touch "Alexander the Great", "Hallowed be Thy Name", the t/t on this, or "Two Minutes to Midnight"?

"Beyond the Realms of Death", "Stained Class", "Saints in Hell", and "Dreamer Deceiver" are prob the only Priest lyrics that come close.

They had a fairly solid 7 album run, agreed. For the most part, 80's Maiden > 80's Priest.

consistent in that they've played about 3 different songs for 35 years

they've had just as many stinkers as priest

Not even close imo. 80's Priest has nothing on pretty much any Maiden, excluding 90's stuff.

I'm not properly qualified to analize Maiden's full discog. However, in regards to Priest:

2 outright metal classics
2 awesome gems
4 decent rock n' roll records
2 good but not too awesome albums
2 inconsistent yet half-good albums
1 downright mediocre album
3 outright shitters

Yeah, it's good and all but nothing too special. Probably their best to come out in the 80's though.

if you dont compare the time frames the bands are pretty much even in terms of quality and consistency

imo

first 7 maidens = first 8 priests (minus point of entry ∴ 7 albums)

like you can't say "ohh '80s Maiden > '80s Priest" duh doy because '80s Maiden was their high point whereas Priest's high point was the '70s when Maiden hadn't even released a record

I'm officially departing from this discussion. Too busy jamming Melvins anyway.
