Oh man, I can imagine. Especially considering you're planning on opening something new.

Well I mean I opened the current law firm in August, the second law firm would be more of a name only thing that would operate alongside my firm but with a different name and clients sourced directly from a financial advisor that I'm in negotiations with (he owns the name he wants used but can't own the firm directly as he's not an attorney), and then the financial firm would be opened up parallel to these so that I can get a percentage on AUM fees on clients I send to financial advisors I work with.

It's funny cause the last of the three is the least effort and the highest margin.

That's what happens when you work as much as you say you do. That's how it should be.

The difference between effort expended and money earned for legal versus financial work is staggering.

If you manage a million dollar account for a couple at 1.2% aggregate AUM, you get $12,000 a year on a recurring basis for a few meetings a year. If you have 10 such clients (maybe 30 meetings a year, some phone calls) that's $120K.

Legal you work your ass off for that.

Do you think you would retire from your initial careers and let yourself enjoy life still making 6 figures? Is that the goal? Or do you want to go as far as possible with all of that work?

I wanna have a bunch of fucking kids and live in the DC metro area which is expensive as hell so six figures is just a starting point around here.

The benefit of that is that the demographics have a lot more money to manage and spend on transactional work, so it more than evens out.

you wouldn't call me sport if you weren't so mad about it mars! please calm down!

"Lmao you so crazy storm"

It takes real effort when I'm not bored but I'm bored quite often these days :-/ working from home and having multiple hobbies, talking to irl family and friends... still doesn't take up all the time...I used to want the day to be 30 hours long because that's what I felt I needed to do everything in life, but corona has changed that

I am still going in to my job so I haven't experience work from home situation yet, but I imagine it would start driving me a bit up the wall pretty quick
