that kinda happens here; when one person dissents and doesn't immediately give up it blows up.

also tbh it doesn't seem like anyone's cared about any of Snoop's output since about the time he called himself Snoop Lion.

is that really the standard now? damn, i remember when 250K used to be considered terrible for a mainstream act

he's more notable now for accidentally leaving streams on after ragequitting on Madden and mucking up good wrestling themes, lol. i haven't heard much buzz about "ooo a new Snoop album" in ages. last genuinely huge song that isn't a collab I can think of is Drop It Like It's Hot, from 2004.

what is this bizarre perspective you have of what makes people popular. he's popular because he's literally doing everything everywhere. the amount of avenues he's expanded to is insane. he's easily the most popular rapper alive and one of the most popular celebrities of the past few decades

she kinda has a point insofar as a lot of classic acts' newer material tends to be increasingly less relevant and less popular (usually cuz its also increasingly less inspired) no matter how important or beloved they were at first. i mean look at the rolling stones or ac/dc

yeah, park, i didn't even realize AC/DC dropped a new one till like a week or so ago when i got curious. and drifter, every now and again i'll turn on the radio or hear mainstream stuff come up in stores of wherever. i'd hear stuff like billie eilish every 15 minutes but never any NEW Snoop or anything like that.

ok but snoop dogg sucks ass and ruins absolutely anything he associates himself with, which is a lot of things cause he’ll do pretty much anything for a paycheck

I don't think so, the point is how popular the act is as a whole and not how popular their newer material is. Fact is even if it's through memes Snoop has retained relevancy, especially his older material, and isn't obscure.

It's part of the reason why basing someones popularity off Sput, especially for hip-hop, doesn't make sense. Snoop has almost the same amount of monthly listeners on Spotify as Kendrick Lamar, Tyler the Creator, etc.

if the emphasis is on the present tense, i guess, but if u think doggystyle sucks ur thoughts on rap are wack lol

Like the point being made is just basing someones popularity off Sput, especially in genres outside of metal/rock, is a big no-no. That point doesn't end because someones newer material isn't beloved.

right, Snoop's relevant for other reasons, he himself is far from obscure, dude did the world's worst frog splash on an AEW Dynamite episode and mucked up Cody Rhodes' theme. i just ain't heard much buzz on his new albums.

speaking of tyler i havent exactly followed his career much but its interesting how if u look at sput it seems like hes been dropping off when in reality hes only been getting bigger and more acclaimed
