Carnage is probably the most impressive of the three though...

Ghosteen is apparently #6 of all time on Metacritic albums. Noiiice. Carnage iirc is #20

"Abattoir Blues/The Lyre Of Orpheus is probably his best work so prioritize that if nothing else"
would only just scrape my top 10 lol, it's pretty good though
idk if the double album is the easiest rec for someone going through his discog for the first time tho

Tender Prey or Henry's Dream are his best pre-ST albums, but Let Love In will always be the best starting point
Abattoir/Lyre is very good, but not ideal as a double album [2] and a little patchy compared to the other highlights

Yeah, Tender Prey, Henry's Dream, and Let Love In are good starting points I'd say. Murder Ballads is my personal favorite. If it weren't for Nocturma and Lazarus (which I still do enjoy), he'd have a perfect discog imo

Also, I personally really enjoy Kicking Against the Pricks, but most don't seem to. I've always considered it more of a compilation album since it's all covers, but it's apparently considered their third studio LP, so I guess that would affect the "perfect discog".

*Triple Post* Actually, critic scores for Pricks are pretty positive and RYM has it at a 3.7, so y'all just dummies
*edit as to avoid quad post* I believe I was looking at the CD release of Pricks, because the original release has a 3.4 not 3.7, so I stand (slightly) corrected. Still a great album.

Pricks is alright, I'd never listen to it in full but the cover of All Tomorrow's Parties is an early discog highlight
it's just weird to me when Cave sings other people's lyrics lol. doesn't compute

Lol Abattoir Lyre as Sowing's #1 Cave makes so much sense
"Let Love In will always be the best starting point"
This, got the hits and the grits, sets you up for whatever direction you wanna go after

"Lol Abattoir Lyre as Sowing's #1 Cave makes so much sense"
It's right up my alley for sure.
Carnage might give it a run for its money though.

not sure how I feel about the new one yet but Albuquerque is fucking lovely
will surely be a grower but I don't think it approaches the Bad Seeds 2010 trilogy as yet

Aluquerque and the track after are easily the weak part for me. Rest is mostly spotless

Honestly have to agree w Johhny that Albuquerque is my least favorite track, but definitely not a bad (seeds) song by any means. "and the track after"- Lavender Fields!? silly johhny [2]

can't help but wish he recorded Euthanasia for it instead of Old Time and Lavender Fields which are whatever. but who am I to critique Nick Cave? (I'm a person who listens to Nick Cave and sometimes critiques him is who)
