Just revisited this to see if it was as bad as I remembered. It is. Something Human is downright vomit-inducing. Pressure is annoying af. Their worst album by a pretty significant margin if you ask me.

Break It To Me is pretty cool tho.

For me it'a an okay album with some cool tracks. The problem I'm having with it is that it relies too much on the '80s retrofuturistic nostalgia that reigned on the latter half of the '10s, and perhaps a more prolific band can occupy themselves with current trends, but when it's done by a band that takes its time with albums, it seems like they are tying themselves to a current so they can remain relevant

Wow, the new track isn't too bad. Very Black Holes and Revelations

Melodies and the heavyness is very early Muse (even though a bit Metalcorish), the synths are more modern Muse. Good compromise imo

It's pretty heavy lol

I'll give it a fair chance as always. The riff falls a little flat though imo

True, it's been some time!

Thing are working out atm. I finished my bachelor's degree, working on my master's now, and it's stressful, but also a kinda fun, I must admit.

I'm also in a relationship again, so 2021 was a good year after all. But still, fuck Covid lol

Glad to hear that man, congrats! Also yeah fuck Covid, especially here with our extremely restrictive government. But let's not get into German politics here haha

Honestly I'm less than thrilled with the new song. It's better than most of Simulation Theory but that's a low bar to clear. The 'heaviness' feels pretty shoehorned and like a compulsory response to the band's recent pop outings that nobody cared about. It's theoretically a step in the right direction but not as good as 50% of Drones, which got a lukewarm reception. If this is Muse highlighting their best new material, then they're in trouble. If a new album eventually comes out and proves able to flesh out this sound while driving the rock approach all the back to the days of Black Holes, then maybe we'll have something worthwhile.

Yea, not a fan of the riff. Goes pretty much nowhere and the heaviness is the only good thing I can find about it
