It's odd because he had been on a kick of better lyrics and songwriting but went back to the old senses fail sound and dumbed everything down lyrically. To me it feels like an attempt to latch onto their poppier sound to regain traction again but it just doesn't reach what aims for.

nah this has way more depth than thorns. lyrically nothing can touch still searching through the fire
and the throwback to the old sound mostly works instrumentally since a lot of these songs are fun as fuck
