Ye it's good

The most unique album they've done yet

They've got better with each album. This one is simply magnificent. I Should See Memphis and Crack Up are sublime album closers.

It's been mentioned plenty of times here but Crack Up is in no way as immediate as their first two albums (as Helplessness Bless was far less immediate than their debut). But it's so rewarding. Expertly and delicately crafted - the shackles of conventional song structure that, admittedly served them so well in their earlier days, have been removed.

This is unfettered expression through art. Now shhhh

I honestly think all three of their LPs are pretty even in terms of quality, just each is quite different stylistically from the one which came before

the debut is sonically on par, but sort of forgettable by comparison

I’m in the minority here in that Crack-Up is actually my least favorite Fleet Foxes, though they’re all excellent. The relative simplicity of the debut makes it more enjoyable imo whereas this one gets a bit obtuse/labored over for me at times. Helplessness Blues has the best of both worlds and is the best overall.

For me, they've gotten just a little bit better with every release. The most noticeable leap forward was the debut to HB. From HB to this was only a marginal increase.

Kind of blows my mind that I haven't heard this despite their first two albums being such a big part of my childhood and Montezuma being one of my favourite songs. Might listen tonight

Let us know what you think

I'll keep on touting this as better than HB but I'm in the minority for sure

really curious to see where they'll go with their next record, was expecting new stuff sooner tbh with those demos from like a year and a half ago

The latter half of On Another Ocean is probably my favourite section of the entire album
