@trebor
Do you honestly believe that sorry ass of an excuse ? He's either lying or he's just plain stupid. I can't believe that a professional musician would stack every idea he has written over the last 8 years in a cell phone.

I was thinking the same thing John. These are stupid excuses for not writing respectable solos anymore.

This album is honestly pretty good for being dad thrash. It's like OP said, Hardwired is basically a mixture of their previous works but made into something very... DAD m/

If Kirk had writing credits, this would probably be DM prt 2. And idk about you guys but I would rather have this then that.

what is it about the songs (production aside) that people don't like about DM? Too long and unfocused?

'Is this really three discs?'
3rd disc (deluxe) consists of bonus material which includes Lords of Summer, three excellent covers, and a live set from earlier this year
i was never really a fan of deluxe editions, but this one is worth it imo

I would have preferred the original announcement, being demos of all the songs, but only because most of us have heard The Four Hosemen live so many times, would have liked some new bonus material

Lords of Summer, Rainbow medley, When a Blind Man Cries, Remember Tomorrow, Hardwired (live).....about 30 minutes of new material

Rainbow and Remember Tomorrow have been out for a while on different tribute albums. Lords was rerecorded, so you can call that new I suppose.
I'm not necessarily saying the third disc is bad, I just personally would have preferred the demos to these songs so I can see how they've evolved, rather than the retreads of live stuff.
For the record, I preordered the deluxe edition regardless, and I don't regret it a bit

"what is it about the songs (production aside) that people don't like about DM? Too long and unfocused?"
I love Death Magnetic although I've grown to abhor the production. Just glad they didn't make that album all over again and actually tried to do something a bit different then the Metallica norm.

To me this feels as if they have recorded and produced a demos album. With improved lead guitar lines and tighter bass and drum this could've been something.
