I suppose tonight's the night I check this album

Either this will boost my objectivity, or I'll be pleasantly surprised...

I was actually pretty impressed with the instrumental talent on display here, but the cleans were, bar the odd small exception here or there, a completely different story. Goes to show just how much damage bad vocals can do to an album. A potential 3.5-4/5 album lost at least two full points. :/

Damn dude, two points off solely due to vocals is pretty killer. Any tracks you really dig?

The cleans irritated me enough that they seriously hampered my enjoyment of the album for most of its runtime. When that's the case, I can't exactly be kind with my rating :/

The last minute of "Man of the Year" is fantastic, though. That song is the best of the lot, 3-3.5 territory for me. "Here Comes the Winner" and the back half of "Inspire the Liars" I also found to be decent, but that's just about it. Found more enjoyment in 10-second spurts than in full songs tbh.

Basically my thoughts except I found the instrumentation just as annoying

Idk what this thread is on Tillian is incredibly talented. Not his fault his range is up there.

Tillian annoyed the fuck out of me on IG, not so much here though. Sure he's still intolerable on some occasions but for some reason I actually enjoy him on some of the songs.

I've always been a fan of Tilian, I think he has a great voice. I did prefer him in Tides of Man tho, that's where he truly shined as a vocalist

If this band did more songs like Philosopher King, Inspire The Liars and Man of The Year then they could easily put out a 4.5 album for me. That and actually take themselves more seriously when it comes to their lyrics.

Also, always confused why people hate on Tilian's voice so much. He may have a high register, but he has fantastic control over it

I really enjoyed this when it came out but after more and more listens, I have no desire to return back to this, wears off really quickly
