I don't know. "Girl in Amber" is the best song I've heard in years.

Sometimes musically this leaves me underwhelmed, but Girl In Amber, I Need You and the t/t, especially the t/t, are gorgeous. The lyrics on the other hand are always out of this world.

I understand those points, but imo the music does exactly what it should, being minimal and bleak almost unconditionally.

I don't doubt that for a second. It does do what it should. His fragile delivery sounds achingly genuine and that's what I admire most about this record. As for the music, a song like Jesus Alone is lyrically incredible, but as for the music, it's fine, but something just seems...missing. What's funny is I keep trying to figure out what that missing part is haha, but I just know it leaves me a tad underwhelmed. Just lacks a certain staying power in its atmosphere for me personally I guess. But I get it and love most of this record.

Funny that considering his 15yr old son 'achingly' shattered his bones after falling off a cliff and carking it.

Ladies and gentlemen, Zakalwe: A sensitive man with no amount of bitterness or sarcasm in his responses!

I understand that, if anything the middle songs are more musically difficult to grasp for me but still brilliant. Jesus Alone is one of the most engaging and interesting songs on here musically imo, and lyrically of course.
