"This is the only release aside from the Icarus EP that I haven't given a 4+ too. This album is just super phoned in... like literally, the whole reason this album exists is because their manager fucked up the Juggernaut cycle so they were just sitting around with nothing to do and were just like "eh lets just make another album fuck it (even though Juggernaut hasn't even been out for a year yet.)"
Thanks for elaborating on your reasoning's, now i can see where youre coming from, and it makes sense, perhaps they should have held off on releasing another album, Juggernaut era wasnt really put to its fullest potential, i mean... they never even played "Omega" let alone half the songs on the album live before, P3 is still good imo but now i see your points haha

I will say that the management did fuck up Juggernaut hard. They could have done so much with that album (Juggernaut Play-through, comic or novel, etc.). That being said, I wouldn't say this is phoned in. The songs are well composed and come from a meaningful place. They aren't just generic metalcore shit.

Gotta say, Periphery actually puts out TOO MUCH damn music. Like, tour and support an album for 2-3 years guys! So that it can actually grow on people enough to want to come to your shows and watch you play those songs. The problem is, once I get a feel for an album they've already put out 2 more and are again performing songs I know nothing about.
Bastards.

I think it'll be awhile before the next album, all the members are working on their own side projects. Periphery itself is prolific but the members themselves are writing and releasing all their own side stuff too. I wish I had that type of work ethic haha. As far as I know, Misha is working on his solo Bulb album and Four Seconds Ago with Jake AND Haunted Shores with Mark. Sponce has finished his solo Endur album and has finished recording vocals for The Mothership with Matt and Jake is working on his 2nd solo album. Crazy output.
Their management deffo fucked Juggernaut for them, they were planning a graphic novel and a tour playing the whole album from front to back but they ended with 6 months of downtime so they wrote P3 instead of doing nothing.

Those guys need to go hang out with Corelia, Karnivool and Tool and inspire those lackadaisical layabouts.

Welp, Nolly just left the band. Not surprising since he hasn't been a touring member for over a year. Wonder if they'll get Tom Murphy back?
|

Whoa what was the reason?

He's been focusing on being a producer for other bands for awhile now and wants to do it full time. He wants to do more sample libraries as well. Basically full time audio engineer, plus he lives in the UK while everyone else is in the US so the distance made it a ballache for touring.

Mhmm I just read a statement from Misha. Seems like there's no bad blood.

"The Way The News Goes" frustrates me so much. The chorus is so refreshing and interesting and literally everything else in the song is pointless. That's Periphery in a nutshell, really; a lot of really nice moments and a lot of pointlessness.
If you could combine all of their best moments into one record it would probably be pretty fucking awesome, actually.

Woaaaah! Hold on a sec. The Way The News Goes has some of the prettiest riffs ever written. If anything the chorus is the low point of the song because that happy black metal riff doesn't quite gell with everything else.

All New Materials has prettier riffs
