its hard to pick any songs to leave out tbh. most 80 minute albums would be a chore for me but i've never had a problem digesting this

I could happily cut about 5/6 tracks off this but the highlights are so good

Yeah, screw Two Men Down. Also, pots, you probably mean I Hope My Life, which I actually really dig.

Tracks 5-9 I could do without and it would probably put this in 4.5 territory

I couldn't even tell you which tracks I'd trim from this (besides probably Always). It just feels too long but this is easily my favorite release from him. I felt like Overgrown, although a better album than his self-titled imo, traded how abstract it was for solid songwriting while this takes what made both of those great.

You're an idiot if you think James Blake doesn't have good song writing. Not saying that is consistently true, some of his songwriting is indeed not the strongest trait of some of his mudic, but he has plenty of examples that are exceptionally composed and that's indisputable.

I mean I jammed his first two albums and didn't like them but I can tell that his skills are primarily as a producer, not a songwriter, which is very different

There could be examples of good songwriting on here but I haven't really been given a strong incentive to devote 76 minutes of my life to this... the single that has that sample "I'm an avocado" or whatever the fuck belongs on the Disney channel

I don't actively dislike his 'songwriting' and can get behind his beats for sure, it's just his voice that gives me nightmares
