... I mean so does George Harrison, which is the Beatles member I would associate with The Deak for a number of reasons actually. But as you say, being in a band with the likes of Avey and Panda will invite some unflattering comparisons. That's some S-tier company right there

kinda think deakin is neither tbh. def not super off key but doesnt strike me as particular talented in any conventional way and def not interesting either. "wide eyed" is a skip and dont like his album very much

I like a lot of personality too don't get me wrong. I friggin love anco, but Avey and Panda can be a bit much to handle sometimes. Been finding it near impossible to get into their last few anco albums

floridada is the only song that seems like it's playing by their usual songwriting rules in some way...song's almost mid but kinda good or vice versa
even aside from the vocal hocketing gimmick the songs on here are weirdly written; not one of them really strikes me as hitting a satisfying consonance in the manner of MPP/Feels etc. the chords are weirdly blase and lightly dissonant. interesting album but can't quite like it
