I don’t know how meaningful it is to use MDM as a descriptor for modern soilwork.
I’m not sure what I’d give the honor of best melodeath too but there’s a lot of contenders. I prefer melodeath with more DM influence so I would probably pick something like Hornets of the Pogrom, Oracle Moon, Banquet in the Darkness, or Into the Halls of the Blind
