"Winter seems far colder without you by my shoulder" is a silly line, mind.

in real life when people don't like cradle of filth I tell them to go out and meet people. I get funny looks. but if you've never gotten really drunk and burned down a church, I highly recommend it. Those things go up like kindling

for me it's a mix of listening ironically and being entertained by their craftsmanship. they're very good at what they do and while they're over the top and goofy a lot of times, they actually do pull out moments of genuine emotion here and there.

this record is fun and well crafted. i don't think anyone's accusing it of being a particularly serious work of art and i think everything from midian until this is passable at best
also the mastering on this is still atrocious

"not sure if you guys"

Indeed. This band is like 30 years old. It has always been about gothic theatrics. Sometimes even with some awesome music.

You have no rational excuse for your arrogant confusion.

oh i'm aware of the band's style. some of their older stuff is actually passable in my books but that new song i listened to... no redeeming qualities whatsoever. i realize i've been itt way longer than i should've considering i really, really don't get it but i don't see any reason for liking that song other than for a good parody of bad art, and i'm not even exaggerating it

It's definitely not their best song. But how do you feel about this album?

It's an easy band to hate. CoF and Dimmu Borgir were the leaders of pop BM - often lame, but often awesome.

Manticore was like a 3, this is up there with Midian

I'd say Manticore was an important stepping stone in getting back to form, not a great album but still has some solid tracks.

This and Heartbreak and Seance have some of his best shrieks in years too.

What I've heard from this album I have to grudgingly admit to enjoying at least a little bit. New track was more boring CoF with crappy production tho. But fans of more symphonic CoF will prob love it I guess so cheers to them.

I have a feeling the new one is going to follow on from the more melodic style of Blackest Magick which I'm totally behind

It sounds very much in the vein of this album, which I'm not complaining about. New song went heavy on the chants, but it worked. Hopefully the rest of the album has the same consistency.
