My top 5 would be We're Here Because We're Here, Judgement, Alternative 4, A Natural Disaster, Weather Systems

god i can't imagine thinking this - both songs are wonderful and take shelter is one of anathema's best songs period. definitely the best closing song of their career.

'You're Not Alone', 'Firelight' and, dare I say it, 'The Lost Song Pt 3' are a bit less essential here.



'Ariel' and 'Anathema' are prob top 10 Anathema songs for me, and I agree the last two songs are refreshing.

Dreamflight, my least favourite one is The Optimist. This is definitely better than that one. As for Serenades, it's phenomenally good, a gothic doom landmark.

the optimist has some really good moments but the last half of the album completely falls apart and becomes a dull and unfocused mess - tracks 3 and 4 are top tier stuff.



i can't believe they released 'can't let go' as a single, horrendous track.

@Ocean of Noise: Can't really agree with that. Sure Lovelorn Rhapsody, Sleepless, J'ai fait.. and to a certain extent Under a Veil are all ace songs but there's just too much filler on that album as well imo.

Yeah it's probably too generic for Anathema, but still it has a nice vibe.

I can see Dreaming: The Romance being filler, but every other song on Serenades is excellent. Classic death doom.
