I mean I'd take this over the dozens of loudness war victims that get released in terms of production but meh

Jamming all the albums in reverse order right now... this isn't anywhere near as bad as I kind of built up in my mind over the past couple years.

Is it campy? Yes. Is pretty much every song a carbon copy of a very specific song from the 80s/90s? Also yes. But the songs are good and the performances are really strong. Some seriously great production here too.

I wouldn't call them "bad" just really really boring. That same dude killed it on Not Ready to Die, band gave him the AJFA-Jason Newsted treatment here not letting him play anything cool

Album is so good, easily differentiated itself from Metallica's Black Album imo. What I get from this is just really well written A7X songs. I will adhere though that This Means War sticks out like a sore thumb and is a shameless imitation of Sad But True, it's easily the worst song on this album.

PLAAANETS

COLIIIIDEEE

yeah that songs fine too I guess.

Doing Time is dogshit, Crimson Day is one of the cheesiest ballads I’ve ever heard, Requiem is just completely forgettable, and I’d actually like This Means War if it weren’t ripping directly from Sad But True.

Like there’s so much here that just feels like rip offs of older, much better, songs, but that main riff is so blatantly copying Metallica is ridiculous, idk how they thought they could get away with that.

Doing Time was always the one that annoyed me the most, since the main vocal line in the chorus is literally ripped straight from GNR's Paradise City. Same lyrics ("everybody's doing their time") and cadence

It literally sounds like a GnR b side… and I fucking hate GnR to begin with. Legitimate claim to being the worst a7x song

Never really got into this one, I wasn't a fan when it came out and still to this day something about it just annoys me

Album is so boring and it just rips off some classic metal bands. Very little interesting happens here which is a shame as Nightmare was such a good record. Acid Rain was pretty good though.

i don't blame them for firing arin for basically giving the most uninspired drum performance of the 21st century

I find it really hard to believe he didn’t get kneecapped by the band. He was fine on Not Ready to Die and Carry On.
