I'm sorry, not a huge fan of this Haken sound. It's a little fun but nothing more for me

...and now that the bad taste of Affinity is a distant memory and Haken is cool again, re-fived haha

Lol Affinity has awesome songs like Red Giant and Bound By Gravity. Initiate is cool too, but the rest is enjoyable to very very subpar.

24 hours of listening to most of their music and I'm a fan. This album is pretty much just epic. Period. Falling Back To Earth and Cockroach King are killer

Agreed, this album is one of the few recent prog metal albums that justifies how fucking massive it is in scale

I've never been much of a prog fan, but dang, this album just hits right in every way

I know a guy who thinks this is their worst album. Never heared of this opinion before. I quite like it atm, they started to get more focused and concise after Visions and Aquarius.

So these were all their 5 albums now. I wished I would have fallen in love with one of them completly, but that didn't happen. The Mointain is a pleasant listen though, it's probably as little bit better than Affinity. My favourites would be Visions and Vector.

@kalkwiese Visions your favourite? I think it's their most safe. Maybe need to revisit.

I'm a little torn on my favorites tbh. Visions is like a more focused and refined version of Aquarius. It's like the culmination of their more symphonic side. And I feel like it's the most Haken album they've done, but what that actually means is up for debate, I guess.
I find it a little bit too long or too samey. But tbh I have slight issues with all of their albums

This was the album that gave me hope for Haken after listening to Aquarius. Not sure which is better between this and Vector.

Vector is definitely more mature, better composed, well realized... But this just has that emotional hit that can't be beat.

Yeah the first spin of this record just about blew my mind.
On another note, really love the Gentle Giant influence present in the quirkier, more jazzy tracks.
