"Best band. Also a weird thing I noticed with this album is that the high vocals seem mixed strangely, they sound metallic? Listening to In Hell Is Where She Waits For Me. Almost like a tinny sound."

I remember reading or watching an interview where he said that he started using a different kind of vocal compressor or something for recording on this record. He might of been talking about Abysmal though

it uses the word "deathcore" 3 times even though this band hasnt been deathcore since their demo/ep days

Unfortunately there are people who still mislabel them as deathcore to this day, and I've never understood why they do it. Maybe it's because of the whole shriek/growl vocal duality, but that isn't just limited to deathcore (even though a lot of bands in that genre do it)

i was wondering the same thing a few years ago and someone else here i cant remember who (sorry) pointed out that its because they used to tour and associate with dxc bands in the 00s even though the music on their LPs isnt anything like that

That wouldn't surprise me. I do remember them being involved with Warped Tour and stuff like that, which obviously a lot of death metal bands wouldn't be willing to do. But then again, they were also part of festivals like Summer Slaughter, which obviously most Warped Tour-oriented acts would never touch with a ten foot pole. So it's whatever... in any case, on a musical level, melodic death metal is definitely the most accurate genre for TBDM

I came here to comment on this. It'd also be better if the lyrics weren't decipherable, with it being the title of the track you're never missing that line. Stands out waaaaaay too much.

This is decent mind, not sure where it'll settle amongst their discog yet. Just filling gaps. First 3 are their peak thus far, especially Nocturnal.

nyeh. it's not overbearing but i'm not digging the techy sound here. and that vines of thorn tune might be the first truly cheesy thing they've ever made. doesn't suit them
