If you followed the rule book for writing a DT song, it would sound like Pitiless. It's not bad but the band seems to be stuck in a rut.

Not expecting an album much better than the last 2, sadly

The new album is basically a stripped down continuation of Construct. Maybe a little heavier than Construct, but still has the clean singing and keyboard-driven melodies. Maybe like Construct meets The Mind's I. It's definitely nothing new for the band, but it's still pretty good.

Construct meets The Mind's I? Does that mean it riffs?

It does riff more than they have in awhile, but there's still more 'Construct' than MindsI.

I'm not pissed about that cause this slays.

Yea I love Construst, and Mind's I is actually my favorite DT so I'm looking forward to the new one a lot. Of course I'd hardly expect them to go back to their old sound but I've loved the more modern spin they've put on the style, Fiction is probably my second fave.

If the record has riffs it'll be good, if it is mostly keyboards it won't be.

well new song has some good vocal melodies with the cleans and the harsh vox have a real nice edge to them but there were basically no riffs so i guess that answers my previous post

I just had a chance to listen to the new track, Atoma, a few times and I really liked it. It's pretty straightforward, but the melodies are very nice. The cleans sounds better than a lot of his other work. Not a bad track IMO

Yea I liked it but Construct was also awesome so I'm game for whatever they do. Willie said it riffs more than Construct so I believe him

I really do like the new song for what it is, but the keyboards are just too much. Melodic death metal is meant to have the melody come from the guitar riffs, or at the very least have the keyboards and guitars combine to create the melodies. On this track, it is all keyboards, which is a major downside for me. I hope the album as a whole is more guitar-oriented.
