I forgive you dude, even if you don't like this anymore than you did. The 'pretentious' argument should just stay out of art and music

If I would make a painting of a human/rhino hybrid licking its own armpits and tell you it symbolises the current state of our society

why tho

it has a very clear meaning that is true for a lot of art so it's kind of dumb to say it shouldn't be used ever just bc it's become a buzzword and some shits on youtube felt like pinning it on every indie band ever

is it the strongly expressive lyrics or the very minor experimentation that makes this pretentious?

cause what i'm hearing is a very bare bones, raw, chaotic metalcore album with some slightly quirky out of genre moments and really passionate lyrics

The titles form a coherent sentence that makes sense in terms of the theme, how is that pretentious?

The Western part fits perfectly and sounds awesome.

The Charley Chapman speech in it is absolutely beautiful and inspiring, sampling something you find inspiring isn't pretentious.

So basically what we have is "this is pretentious because they played clips of other things and I don't get the very blatant reasoning behind using the clips in relationship to the concept of the album."

"first turns into some western shit halfway through for no obvious reason"

that part is cool

"the entirety of cheek is just a soundclip of some speech with some random instruments in the

background"

people have been doing this for decades...decades.
