Combustion is probably my favorite Meshuggah song though because it isn't six minutes of boring polyrhythms; it just riffs hard m/

looks like this band isnt for you bodominflames

It's impressive in spurts, but when you make a five-six minute song that never really deviates from one or two riffs, it's

comes off as boring, and even a little gimmicky to me. For that reason, ObZen is easily my favorite Meshuggah record.

This is probably second.

And Metallica, the term generally used for the rudiment Haake is playing is "herta." It's structured in triplets but the first

beat is bisected into two sixteenth notes.

I hate how other "djent" bands are automatically compared to Meshuggah. Such ignorance, there are some majorly talented artists using 7 and 8 strings right now. Fredrik Thordendal is not God.

I just wouldn't call them strictly triplets - because they're not.

But that was clearly just a semantic disagreement, so fuck it.

yeeee, it's all in how you hear the notes, I just hear them as triplets with a single stroke in between, unfortunately I never really learnt rudiments when learning drums, just the basics like paradidles and such

Hype translates to an instantly overrated album. I guarantee you half of these ratings are based off of "hype", and they MAYBE listened to one or two of the songs.

I've heard I which I kinda like. And a couple songs off of each of their other albums. But this is the only one where those couple songs made me want to get the album and listen to the whole thing.
