Of the releases under his own name, I prefer Terria and Infinity, but this record is so fucking immaculate. It communicated almost narcissistic depression in such a way that isn't overbearing. I will say that this album actually is a grower despite not having ultra complex noodling. It is great on its first listen, but it does get better with more listens.
Fave tracks:
"Hide Nowhere"
"3 AM"/"Voices in the Fan"
"The Death of Music"
"Bastard"
Seventh Wave"
My appreciation for "Night" and "Funeral" has been growing.

this is my favorite album of his but terria and city come close. every song is incredible but the run from funeral -> the death of music is straight up perfection.

Devin has gone on record saying that he doesn't find Nickelback to be awful and the the production on Dark Horse influenced the direction he took Addicted! in. He actually really digs popular music. For better or worse (for you all), he likes whatever the fuck he actually likes and incorporates that into each album. Not everything he does is a classic, but he is undeniable a very competent musician who really loves puppets.
