Haha, thanks for the show of faith, Aids + Opeth. You guys are sweet =) I'll try and find the time to do it - promise!
But lemme get back to my review of Secret Codes and Battleships in the meantime =) Also Aids, you have convinced me to go and buy a copy of Mylo Xyloto the next time I'm in town. Gonna start hounding you for my money back if it sucks ;)

I wanted to get a copy of Mylo Xyloto too but apparently I spent almost all of this month's allowance on obscure BM releases already...

oh shit man haha I dunno, that album has split the opinions right down the middle. half of the people say that it's overproduced and cheesy but I think it's amazing. Brian Eno produced it and you like him so idk maybe you'll like it haha. fuck i'm scared now though.

K so the problem really isn't my concern that the album might suck from a general point of view, but rather it's the fact that Coldplay is one of those bands which just doesn't do it for me. I mean, I will very readily acknowledge that they're good musicians, with solid lyrics, clever instrumentation, and introspective songwriting, but something about them just doesn't jive with me. This is why I can't bring myself to bother with Mylo. I know it's relatively weird, my not being able to dig Coldplay - I mean, it's not exactly similar to some folks' inability to get into things like, say, unclean vocals - but that's just how it is =/
But hey you never know - Mylo might be the album to change that perception for good =)

Also Aids, I live like, a world away from you, so that hounding for money bit really is an empty threat XD

yeah it very well could be. I didn't know you didn't like Coldplay though. I take back my recommendation. I mean if you don't already like them then I doubt the new one will change your mind. It's really solid, fun pop music though so who knows.
"I will very readily acknowledge that they're good musicians, with solid lyrics, clever instrumentation, and introspective songwriting,"
their lyrics are good something like 65% of the time imo. not a band to listen to for their lyrics. They are quite clever with their instrumentation though and they certainly know how to write a song.

Yeah
|
| |
no more ratings police, please
|
| |
for the record, 2.5 is the correct rating though
|
| |
yeah must be real hard to play the same thing over and over
|
| |
dont really see anythign to like about this album except i guess that its audacious and experimental but both of those arent good qualities in and of themselves
|
| |
It's terrible to the point of being funny at times but my main reason for rating it higher than most is that for all of this and it's supposed artistry, I find the bulk of it simply tedious.
2.5 is a generic rating for me, I reserve anything less for what I consider significantly flawed music and stuff I feel is devoid of any reasonable expectations of quality. The whole I can understand why people like this thing, I guess.

i dont find it artistic the messy way that lou sings, if he could structure the words in a way that lyrics would flow better i might even had gave it a 2, and the lyrics are crap btw, and 9 minutes of a song which is allmost the same thing over and over makes you fall asleep, i MAY rate this a 5 if it takes my insonia away
