I can go without listening to this for months, then I return to it and it still sounds as awesome as it did when I first heard it. Probably one of the most consistently-present albums in any given Favorite Albums list that I personally think about.

Nice bump, keep forgetting to jam this.

I used to like this album quite a bit but weird genre-roulette stuff like this has grown off me considerably

Depends for me, I did listen to an absolute shit load of Dog Fashion Disco (and other Todd Smith projects) many years back, but I don’t generally listen to stuff like that too much anymore. I wouldn’t mind delving into it again, even if it’s only an occasional thing. I enjoyed Diablo Swing Orchestra’s ‘Pinata’ more recently.

Accusations of 'wank' and other such terms related to directionless songwriting are baseless. These guys use a lot of elements in their music but do so in an incredibly precise manner. It still impresses me how each contributing factor can be heard and they all add something that would be missed otherwise.

I'm allergic to "weird genre-roulette stuff". But this is one of those rare bands and albums I cannot experience as such, because they pull it off so organically and sensitively. Really powerful and dense music, this.

Nice, I’m definitely hyped.
Dog Fashion Disco’s film noir style concept album ‘Adultery’ somehow succeeds at this, all the tracks manage to transition well despite the eclecticism. It’s definitely a bit of an acquired taste though.

This is certainly an acquired taste as well I think, because it does merge quite a few different pieces together. Plazz is absolutely correct, however, in saying that Unexpect do so in a very natural, calculated way. It's far from haphazard.

Fuck it, I'm gonna listen to this again. 2019 can wait its turn for an hour.

I'm not getting this so far, I think the aesthetic may be lost on me, plus there are not many engaging melodies or riffs here. It's all very pretty and I cannot claim it lacks cohesion, which is a testament to how well thought out the transitions are (especially given the style), however it still doesn't speak to me.
This sound-off below is so absurdly inaccurate and grating, despite my tendency to somewhat agree with the score given, this is significantly more cohesive than Colors and the two are barely even comparable...
'Every awful thing people acuse Between The Buried and Me of being guilty of is true of this album. Truly a noodling, spastic, though admittedtly an occasionally thrilling, block of "avant garde metal." No thank you. I'll stick with Colors.'
I mean, seriously?

I think this deserves some engagement on the part of the listener and might grow on you. To me this is about the same level of intricacy and creativity as SoP's Incurso, only in a different aesthetic.

I couldn't really get into Incurso either, Cabinet on the other hand is excellent. This is certainly intricate, but their general sound isn't really engaging, despite managing to impress me on some level.

Respectful take, Demon. And I'm glad you at least appreciate that this is incredibly well-composed and coordinated, not some aimless wanderings as many try to allege.
I will dispute that there are no leads; they exist, but not in the traditional guitar sense. Sometimes it's the guitar, or the bass, vocals, etc

CD, there was never a vinyl pressing AFAIK. Even if there was, this is something I'd rather have for car rides. Some stuff is better suited for a disc as opposed to wax.

New material from Vvon Dogma I, featuring some of the members of Unexpect and musically similar.
It's pretty solid.
