Haha. I actually went through ATL's discog not long back. Nothing Personal was better than most gave it credit for, but "ugh" to 'Dirty Work.

"Rise Against have always been poppy."

I want whatever it is you're smoking.

Perhaps not poppy, per se, but they've always been very melodic as well as being very very catchy (Prayer Of The Refugee, Dancing For Rain, etc.). That's what I meant by poppy, not instrument wise.

If a band wants to hit it mainstream then let them try. It's their choice, our opinions don't matter

to them just like their opinions shouldn't matter to us. As a band, next to making music, the bottom

line is to get money too.

Do I like music by bands who try to get mainstream? No, not really. But that's not gonna stop them.

Do you really think that's all RA have changed their sound for JSF? If so, I'm happy to remain naive.

I suppose so, but like I said, the songs just seemed boring. Like one of their songs, "Wait For Me", started off with some emotion and a lot of build up (it was good), but when the chorus came I was a bit underwhelmed, but not disappointed.

At least, not until half the song passed; I was bored by the end of it. Same thing for "Make It Stop".

I agree. They haven't changed any of their core values and they continue to preach change and whatnot, all they've done is alter their sound a bit to be more accessible while trying not to alienate their base audience. Which they seem to be doing a bit of. I still enjoy them and respect their integrity.

I completely agree Joe. Yes their sound has changed with every album, but NO they are blatantly not doing it for the "MONEY MONEY MONEY".

If anything, becoming more mainstream is an attempt to spread their message(s) further. They're vegan and straight-edge FFS - what are they going to do with excess money?

(That's rhetorical, they probably give most of it away)

Tim bathes in money nowadays.

Zack is gonna have a wig made of $100 notes.

Joe uses the ink from money for his tattoos.

Brandon has money for dinner each night.

I remember hearing Prayer of The Refugee on the radio multiple times like 3 years ago, they were already pretty famous. I thought that bands only get like 5 % of profits (especially in mainstream bands), and the rest goes to the record label.

@blastOFF, That's an unprecedented insult to Adam.

But for that matter, what's the difference between a Contributing Reviewer and a Staff Reviewer? I never did figure it out.

It wasn't intended to be insulting at all - I just feel accusing the Rise guys of being all about the money most definitely is insulting, as well as untrue - along with labeling Anti-Flag irrelevant.

No dice.

anti-flag was a political band long before bush became president so that statement is rather pointless.

Yeah but no-one gave a shit until they were all FUCK BUSH and everyone was like YEAH

Now they do nothing
