I have to disagree there, Jonny is the better singer but Kurt can actually write.

comparing juvenile lyricists to other juvenile lyricists is kind of a waste of time don't you think

I wasn't just talking about the lyrics, but Kurt can actually write good lyrics (t/t of Happiness) whereas Jonny is like the most juvenile and immature lyricist ever

But my point was that Kurt can actually provide good melodies and hooks unlike Jonny

the original DBM had some good melodies from Jonny. idk who was behind em though

i thought kurt was pleasant on Happiness but kind of overbearing in Death Star (or maybe Death Star was just bad). I like how much less of Jonny there is here than kurt on Happiness or Death Star, even though I don't like Mess that much to appreciate how that void is filled

i haven't heard this in a while and it wasn't that memorable so i can't recall Jonny's melodies, which may be telling

Honestly good melodies from Jonny are pretty few and far between and as you say the good ones might not even be by him

I actually think Kurt's vocals were better on Deathstar than Happiness but he was pretty good on both. This one gets a bit too much hate, in terms of songwriting it's one of their best efforts even though Jonny's lyrics are at a new low and Mess's vocals are their worst here

Am I the only one who thinks Mess sounds far better here than he ever has? His harsh vocals have been developed on this record, becoming far more enjoyable than in this band's earlier days. I mean, we all remember Rock Solid.

I liked Mess's vocals on DBM, or, rather, the way they were mixed into the record.
