We aren’t at a Swans concert. We are on a music criticism website. I criticized a band on the criticism website. The logic stands in either scenario, because in both it is the reaction to the statement that is “igniting” something, not the statement itself. It is the reaction that escalated the situation to insult. Someone can choose to ask someone why they don’t like the band, instead of immediately bursting into flames. My statement isn’t loaded with any hidden meaning, I would simply rank Swans as one of, if not the worst band ever. I can’t control how someone responds to that opinion. I’m actually also pretty confident in saying that if someone screamed worst band ever at most shows, no one would give a shit. It’s not that serious, lol.
I also did not say the statements are the same, I said the gravity of the terms is the same.

No, most Swans fans are too socially awkward to intentionally engage with other people, even indirectly/tangentially but Michael Gira himself would probably stop the show and call you a stupid hippie fucker or something along those lines.
Again, Anthracks, I could not care less about your opinion of Swans or any band for that matter but you continue to tiptoe around the point that a thread for a generally-liked album from two decades ago by a generally-liked band has a higher probability of being populated by zealots than objectors, hence putting forth a blanket statement of dissent with no substance is bound to be met with hostility, at least more so than would a phrase of equally vapid praise.
I feel like on Sputnik more than anywhere else that is axiomatic.
