I mean, fair, it very much changed my taste in music despite only first hearing it 30ish years after it originally dropped, but idk man, I understand where the budge man is coming from
And also let’s not forget that just because something is influential doesn’t mean that it’s a good influence or if said art is even good in the first place. I can think of plenty of great (and shitty) albums that have gone on to be a massive influence to shitty trends that have stuck around for decades.
I’m blabbing but I’m trying to say that I feel like I get what everyone is trying to say and all opinions are valid even tho I very much still love this record and also think Leper Messiah should’ve been cut and it would’ve made for a stronger record howboutdat

didn't say it was right, just it's a different way of viewing things. all music criticism is viewed through your inherent bias and life experience. everyone has unique things that color they way they look at music. i don't think anything is due respect or enjoyment but i do think someone who lived through it offers a valuable perspective worth hearing.
