I remember when I first joined the site, saw this review, and said I'd check it out. I'm only about 4 years too late on that. Saw the news about their new album coming out and figured it was about time to listen to this one.

Agreed. Though I still like them. This always takes the cake when compared to them.

To all the people who insist it doesn't sound at all like Opeth. Listen more closely. It has a number of parts which tip you off. Specifically, it sounds like older Opeth (pre-Blackwater Park). It doesn't sound like a clone by any means, but it does have similarities. Anyone who is still trying to say it doesn't sound like Opeth is more concerned with acting like they are cool for not liking Opeth than they are with accurately describing the sound of this album.

I'd say it also sounds equally like old Dark Tranquility and of Insomnium (a band I haven't heard mentioned here yet). Definitely not bad things. This album is very solid, very easy to re-listen

I love Opeth, I don't think this sounds like Opeth, so I'm trying to act cool because I don't like Opeth?

I want to cry.
