you don't like electronic music or classical, i'm not surprised you're not as high on it.

well, you probably haven't listened to the full breadth of music classical has to offer. it's not nearly as monolithic as the moniker "Classical" suggests. that said, with regards to the brand of classical that's relevant to this album, i do know what you mean by not liking classical. i was the same way til i heard rach's 2nd piano concerto at age 19 and completely changed my tune

I think I rated Beethoven a 3

EDIT: Well, I didn't have it rated at all. That's changing now.

honestly i'm not the biggest fan of beethoven's symphonies either. i actually have a hard time listening to a full symphony as well. i'd rather pick out a single movement, even with my favorite symphonies (e.g. dvorak's 9th, whose 1st and 2nd movements i was just listening to).

do me a favor and listen to the moldau at least for a couple of minutes and see if you like it, it seems closer to the kind of thing you'd like. definitely use a good pair of headphones with it, makes a huge difference in the richness of the sound (youtube compression hopefully doesn't bother you too much):

"A load of fruity neo-classical melodies doesn't really = classical but by god it's pretty."

i mean i would argue that what's classified as "classical" has moved so far beyond its definition that it's almost a worthless term when discussing modern stuff. i'd agree this isn't really classical, but it's definitely classical-inspired. you can't describe this without tossing some variation of that word, even if it's neo-classical
