"they kinda ripped off ISIS in this one!"

....... wut? ISIS were always a post-rock band - Neurosis have written 3 actual post-rock songs.

I honestly cannot for the life of me figure out why people keep comparing Neurosis and ISIS. They're part of 2 completely different musical movements. If you're going to compare Neurosis to any post-metal band, compare them to Pelican - especially early Pelican.

I agree comparing them to isis shouldn't happen but correct if I'm off the mark but I find Isis and pelican to be quite similar so I'm not sure how comparing to pelican is any better, neurosis are a beast all of their own really

Have you listened to the first 2 Pelican releases, their debut EP and Australasia? It's filled with
giant, sludged out doom metal. They didn't turn into a post-metal band before their "popular" albums
started dropping.

Take for example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LarwAMC_lNE

You're all wrong, but I don't know. Although they blatantly rip off ISIS, Neurosis is a far superior band, which is weird, so I don't know.

Yeah I really dig their early stuff but I just don't see any parallels to neurosis anymore than isis

Hmm. Fair enough. It may just be that I have listened to all of these bands so much that any differences between them are incredibly obvious to me.

But no matter what anyone says.. I will never understand why people compare ISIS and Neurosis. One is a fairly standard post-rock band utilising doom metal instrumentation.. the other is a long-running avant-garde act that have meddled with nearly every genre of music under the sun without ever failling.

Speaking of that, I'm very excited to see where the new Neurosis album goes. I have a feeling they'll be incorperating more drone and ambient, whilst also turning up the violence of their metal quite significantly. That is, if the evolution shown on Given To The Rising is anything to go by. We may have Enemy Of The Sun pt. 2 on our hands.

are you fucking dumb? Neurosis PIONEERED their style of post-metal in 92 with the release of Souls at Zero. when did Isis' first release come out? 98 with Mosquito Control EP ..if anything, Isis (like most other post-metal bands) are slightly influenced by Neurosis instead..

calling neurosis a rip off..you're touching new lows of stupidity..just read your comment again, it reeks of confusion. you have no idea what the fuck you're talking about yourself ffs stfu gtfo

Get your damn fact straight GodL1ke, ISIS ghostwrote the material of Souls at Zero in 92 for Neurosis. Only I and the bands know about this conspiracy, because we are best friends. I was even there at the time!

Maybe you people should stop giving me a hard time on sputnik (still trying to fit in!) and also stop comparing Neurosis to ISIS. They sound nothing alike.
