agreed that MAYH>all other 'peth

Morningrise is growing on me though, acoustic parts of Black Rose Immortal are really beautiful.

Even though the previous two albums are better than this, I still think The Drapery Falls is the quintessential Opeth song.

Yeah, it's been my favorite since I first heard it. These days, it's essentially interchangeable with Still Life though.

Orchid and Morningrise are great but they're really hard to listen to because of how disjointed the songwriting is and the production, plus his growling and singing is a lot better starting with mayh.

Dude production on Morningrise is awesome! He growling/screaming is great too, but his singing is veeeeery pitchy on it. He certainly got better in time with that.

I agree on Orchid being that way, but I wouldn't say that about Morningrise. I feel like it has some of their strongest songwriting. I also think Mikael's vocals on the first three records are also the best due to the range he had. He could reach some terrifying heights, but he also had those trademark lows.

Yea man the bass is sweet. You can't hear it as much on their more favored releases but just a small gripe.

Yeah MR improves on Orchid a lot, though it isn't much better. Both are around 4.3s for me, and yeah the bass in MR is some of their best.

This and Watershed are my favourites by them :]

This edges it as their best though, purely because there isnt a bad track on here

ah ok. 4.3 is a fair rating I think.

I was getting the impression that you were saying it was average of something like that.

The Funeral Portrait is the first Opeth song I ever heard like six years ago when I was thirteen and is still one of my all

time favs.
