For sure.

Listened to this again last night and it's just so good. I wish I was a bigger black metal fan when it came out and could've experienced the excitement and change it inspired first hand.

It's weird to think at a time that the notion of non-Scandinavians playing black metal was considered illegitimate. I probably thought it at one time or another growing up, tbh. Black metal was cold, depressive, and required that environment to bloom. A band from somewhere like sunny San Diego could only falsely mimic the style, but never truly embrace it. I'm so glad this mindset has changed for the most part across the metal community

I am too. That was definitely still the mindset when I started to get into the genre but luckily it started to shift soon after. Think of how much great black metal we would have been deprived of if that attitude persisted.

Just listened to the entire WITTR discog and this is still their best, the Weakling influences are great.

Second best WITTR for me now per my previous comment but lmao fuck yeah. Black Cascade has overtaken this by a tad but still one of the best bm albums ever made. Band has been incredible since the beginning.
