You should listen to the The Crane Wife 3, The Crane Wife 1 & 2, and the Island. I wouldn't be turned off by just one track from this album. Definitely give it a chance and listen to more from this.

I have now listened to this and decided I like the direction the Decemberists are heading in. Colin is alot easier to tolerate this time around, and the songwriting has improved dramatically as well.

Agreed. This and Picaresque are my two strongest 4.5's, both very close to getting 5's from me. You love them so much more after you've seen them live.

But like I said, he's toned some of his more frustrating rants down since Picaresque, and its alot better for it.
