I like the title track and Tread the Floods is ok but the rest I agree with you. Metalcore and Thrash should never be mixed. I agree with wikuk. They will probably rip off Reign in Blood.

They'll just rip off Metallica again, obviously.

I thought it was an exaggeration when Shadows said that the singer sounds like Hetfield on this album, then I took a listen, and haha! He sound EXACTLY like Hetfield!

I first heard Trivium when I saw the support Iron Maiden in Germany in 2006 and i didn't think they were too bad. I agree with many of the points made but that being said, I don't think the Crusade deserves as much flak as it gets. At least Heafy doesn't screech so painfully like he did on previous albums and though on stage he seems to think he's James Hetfield, he doesn't sound THAT much like him. True, many of the riffs are kinda generic but if you're nostalgic for some throwback 80's style metal I think it's still enjoyable enough.

There are too many songs on this album and too many melodic choruses. They said they wanted to make a thrash album, but they actually ended up making the same record as Ascendancy. Instead of screaming in the verses and melodic singing in the choruses(Ascendancy), instead there was harsh singing in the verses and melodic singing in the choruses(Crusade).

TOTALLY agree with Volta, I'd give the Crusade maybe a 3, because musically it's pretty good, but it does rip off Metallica and for the most part the record is not original. By the way, after reading Vikings musical views, I find it funny how he hates on Trivium but his favorite band is...Avenged Sevenfold? Come on dude they suck worse than anything...and your calling this bad? Damn. BTW, Ascendancy is a lot better than this but it's still not a horrible album.
