To try and answer semi seriously, I think that the departure of their guitarrist had something to do with it. Also they changed their sound quite a bit in their third album and a lot of fans reacted negatively (many had already done that with the changes from IAH and this album a.k.a. voice changes etc).

There is a reason the album is called "It hates you". A sort of middle finger to the fans who criticized their new sound.

For clarity's sake I was one of those people. I didn't shit on them but i disliked their change of sound very much at the time and stopped following them. I still think the first two albums are their prime but have to come to appreciate the others. Still can't touch this though.

I have only heard Serpent Sickness and listen to it once or twice a week but still haven’t bothered to check the band. Surprised to find out the song is 15 years old. Would have thought it was around 2012
