I concur that NYC GHOSTS is also underrated, though to some degree I better understand the ambivalence (or downright resentment) of that album despite not quite commiserating. I think this, at the very least, is far more approachable from just about any and every angle imaginable. And it bewilders me that, e.g., this EP has a unanimously lower rating than, say, CONFUSION IS SEX, which could very well be Sonic Youth's least approachable record to date.

In conclusion: What an amazing discography tho.

I can hear Branca's influence (which makes sense!) and maaaaaybe even This Heat (god that band was so ridiculously ahead of their time) but I can accept my field of refs is smaller than some of my present (okay, 2021) company

Wow nice (almost) four-year bump. Amazing album. Really unlike anything they'd do thereafter. Reminiscent of the Swans debut EP (or Circus Mort, I guess). Good shit.
