yeah i liked parts of this but it doesnt go hard enough in either the grind or industrial directions to scratch my itch for either sadly

finally getting around to this. definitely enjoying it but expected a bit more. very much feels like dream weapon with some additional metallic elements and screaming instead of a blend of their old/new. feels less cohesive as a result, i actually prefer dream weapon by a little for that reason. and the shorter songs are very perfunctory.
still an interesting album though, need a few more listens here. opener caught me off guard with the electro beat, really dig that one. tomorrow mirage, born prey and a love so pure are also very good. nice review calc, agree with most of your points here!

dream weapon is a bigger tragedy for this band's discography than one more light is for linkin park's discography
uh oh stinky no grindcore in diaper

no metalz mean bad album >:O

yes
but also a stark downgrade in all fronts of sonic experimentation and texturization means bad album
if the sound palette and ethos were up to snuff and it still felt like genghis tron it wouldn't be so bad, same with OML in respect to LP

no sonic experimentation on dream weapon? lmao

you could say it's experimentation in the same way mixing watermelon soap into a bottle of everclear and then buttchugging it is experimentation
sorry i'm not so good with parable, as dream weapon isn't as bombastic as that
the point is we already know the result because your college buddies already did it, and because contemporary collegegoers are current doing it, and their efforts combined empirically reveal that normal modes of alcoholism are better for you, with fundamentally greater capacity for nuanced flavor and experience.

dream weapon is completely tonally consistent. whether you like it or not, i don't really care. it's absolutely cohesive in what it was trying to achieve. the metal parts in here feel way more slapdash.
