I've realized I only like his SYL albums and DTP albums. The rest don't interest me

Storm- yeah this is the one he’s been talking about for like a decade now. It cost him an arm and a leg to get the orchestra and apparently the recording, production and distribution were also a financial mess.
Muzz- Don’t get me wrong, I love SYL, but it’s definitely not my favorite. I see soooo many people say they just want a new Strapping album, but he’s so far removed from it at this point, I’m not even sure it would sound remotely similar. I’m not opposed to collaborating with Gene though!

Yeah I'm not asking for a new SYL record and agree that another lifetime ago he was with them. I got interested in SYL very early and saw them in a small venue in '97 so been following him since. The DTP albums were also a high and for me his last great output was Transcendence. But more than happy to see peeps dig his newer stuff

That’s incredible you got to see them back in ‘97!!

Production on this is insane, and I havent been a fan of any of his orchestral stuff.

I think the production is phenomenal but some other people here say it’s trash and I’m not an audiophile so I can’t defend it, but I think, considering it’s mixing an orchestra, electronics, and metal instrumentation, it comes together very well

This is the first time I haven't loathed the production on his orchestral stuff, the heavy guitars with the orchestra on those first tracks hit super hard in my opinion.

What about Ocean Machine, Terria, Accelerated Evolution, Infinity tho?

DT is a guy where I appreciate and respect him so much more than I actually listen to/enjoy his material. There are some banger albums that I love but a lot of it very much sits in the "not my thing" zone, which is unfortunate since he's so talented. Still, I'm happy that he's doing what speaks to him and having fun with it.

Synchestra, Infinity and Terria are mixed like complete dogshit but I love them anyway. I think spending so long hyper-optimizing everything takes away the spontaneity. There are classic SYL songs that took Gene and Dev like 10 minutes to write.

This looks like an extremely pretentious album

I haven't really been keeping up with his stuff as much lately, but I'll never not be happy for him that he seems to be in a better place mentally than where he was when he was doing SYL/his early solo stuff.

Overblown Dev is the worst Dev.
Give me Ocean Machine, Accelerated Evolution and Terria all day. Even Epicloud, Addicted and Transcendence. But not everything and the kitchen sink Dev.

crazy how much devy fell off tbh i don't think i've enjoyed a single song of his in well over a decade at this point despite releasing some incredible landmark albums in the past. not sure i even wanna bother with this. womp womp

Haven’t listened but might be Devin’s Worst album cover yet. Album covers just paint these amazing pictures in your head and all I see is Devin’s old ass haha.

^ Have you seen the other artworks that come with the vinyl? An angel or such appearing through a portal to a man draping his monolithic cock over his shoulder. In the background men are suspending themselves in the air using their incredibly long cocks. Another artwork of a person, curled over jizzing into a sparkly cosmic type of background. The last is men battling using their cocks as swords.

I wonder how much bitterman would hate this album

I just can't with Devin Townsend. I think Ghost is the only album I've enjoyed.
