This album is kinda sloppy and amateurish, but the vocal display is incredible, and some of the parts are awesome.

Also, to the dude who wrote the review:
Underoath was playing Hellfest, Furnace Fest, Warped Tour, and shit well before the release of They're Only Chasing Safety, learn yo history.
If there's any reason they're as popular as they are today, it's because of how good their live show was between 2001 and 2006, unfortunately, they've gone to shit lately. This Message Edited On 12.18.07

also FYI, there is a hidden track on this CD called "Spirit of a Living God". it clocks in at 9:07. the first 4 minutes is basically Dallas telling people about how jesus can change your life, then the rest of the track is (supposedly) Aaron singing the actual song. (Wikipedia says it's Aaron's voice, but i think it's too deep to be him, especially since he was 14 when he joined the band.)
Aaron wasn't in Underoath when this album was recorded, that's most definitely Dallas (failing at) singing, wikipedia fails. This Message Edited On 12.18.07

I'm pretty sure he was. I'm also pretty sure that this album sucks, and as much as they might have played Warped Tour and whatever else prior to the release of Safety, they only really achieved success and status after it. Two singles that got pretty heavy airplay on MTV Headbanger's ball and a headlining run on Warped Tour would definitely qualify as "success" over being on Warped Tour, who practically anyone can get on these days.

When I first read this review, I was getting ready to punch someone, but I realized you're right.
It's a pretty untamed, sloppy album.
Underoath or not.
Their next album marked to me the biggest advancement in talent since Cries of the Past is amazing and this for the most part is trash.
I don't know.
If it wasn't for the fact this was by Underoath, I wouldn't give it a second glance.

It is Corey Steger's (lead guitarists) voice singing spirit of a living god and talking at the beginning. Dallas's voice is more southern but he is much younger here. I can see why people hate this album. I for one love it, but people have different tastes. In my opinion, the vocals, production value and song structure is terrible but the album still entertains me. Good review btw, just a bit too strong on the negative side.
