They were just so...bad. I even ordered a bootleg from a sepeate show and it was just as disappointing.
Basically, they were one of my favourite bands, despite the fact the unnecessary ambience pissed me off. I took the day off school to get a ticket, which sold out in 10 minutes. I had to scramble to find one, and when I finally got to the show it just...wouldn't end.
They played 2 and a half hours. Maybe one hour of that was actual music. I didn't want to see them tune their guitars and call it a jam session. Cedric sang off key the entire night (as well as on the bootleg DVD). Omar could not play even the simplest of riffs live. The saving grace was Jon Theodore, whose gone, the bassist who you could barely see, the floutist/multi-instrumentalist and ikey. All the guys who get no credit.
Their live performance completely turned me off the band.

I have actually heard multiple people saying they blew live when they saw them. Good review but the band has never really appealed to me.

Day Of The Baphomets has quickly become my favorite song from this album. Everything about it is beautiful, plus I love the way Cedric uses the word "slut."

1. so many spelling errors
2. tmv live is an aquired taste, i'll admit
3. take the veil is amazing live
4. i'm going to the chicago show tomorrow, i've seen them every time they come here and have always enjoyed it
5. stop fighting, jesus christ

This was quite hard to get into, but is quite enjoyable if you let it unfold. I think you have to listen with full attention though, it's nothing you just let play in the background

I uh.. I'm kinda late. But this is a fantastic review of a fantastic album. Also, I have their live CD and he really can't sing live. I don't know what's the deal with that.

They are pretty bad live.

With all the vocal processing and layering TMV does you shouldn't expect the vocals to sound as good live. He does a fine job of imitating the record, and TMV is one of the best live acts I have seen. Very impassioned and very honest.

This album, after losing some initial appeal, has grown on me again. I love pretty much every song except for Meccamputechture, even the ballads.

It basically plods along with very little rhyme or reason. The opening two minutes are fantastic, and Cedric is great, but after that it just ends up being an excuse for tepid guitar masturbation and saxophone farts.

I hope Omar isn't practicing TMS methods in his guitar masturbation sessions.

Man, they need to use more woodwinds and such, saxaphone gets so tedious after a while. Perhaps, rabbit, perhaps in The Bedlam in Goliath.

agreed. the drumming on this is still mind blowing and everyone's still doing great. it's just no real change from their last two albums which i mean... if your doing something right... keep it up.
