Yeah, Make Me Forget is my current highlight too. Idk, I feel like this album really needed a track like Aimless Arrow or even Dusk in Us t.t. to break up the flow a little. Gonna relisten a bunch to see where I stand. It's fs more consistent than TDiU though.

Consistent as hell agreed. Perfect length for something like this too.

lmao talking with my early 20s coworker I went and saw these dudes with last year and he hates this album. doesnt like the songwriting or the vocals. And ya know what I do see where hes coming from this is probably the most boring Converge album outside of Bloodmoon but idk I think it's alright. Probably a 3.5

Really damn solid, love the more intense tracks. The slower tracks don't hit as hard as some others in their discography in my opinion but they're still well-done. If/when they release a deluxe addition with a couple more chaotic/grindy tracks I'll be completely sold, I think.

If you think 3.5 = "alright" then we have very different rating criteria haha

Converge is graded on a curve! It's alright for Converge, for any random unknown metal band this would be great.

That sound off about this being phoned in is hilarious.

Quite simply, this is the best they’ve sounded since All We Love, maybe even axe to fall. An absolute ripper of a record. I’m blown away

After the first listen, I am not impressed in the slightest. The title track sounds like it's from a completely different album.

I think individual songs on AWL and AtF are better than anything here, but this is maybe their most consistent album, full stop.

"After the first listen, I am not impressed in the slightest."

This has been my initial impression of their past 4 albums haha. I thought AtF was boring as hell the first play, but now it's prob top 3 'verge. Def gotta give this the proper time it needs, I think, but we'll see!

As a rabid Converge fan since the late fifties, this record feels phoned in.

i have to agree gyro, this is a 3.5 at best. they are taking minimal risks and there's a lot of chugging. i also absolutely hate how they always release the opening and closing tracks as singles. they've done this for years

make me forget you slaps though

It’s got that energy man, who cares, chugs are sick when they’re used correctly
