Certainly the best death metal I've listened to so far this year (new Nightmarer EP is pretty good also). I also think I slightly prefer the new Cryptic Shift to this. Tigran Hamasyan's latest release is probably my current AOYT.

Cryptic Shift's newest is like a generational masterpiece whether its something you'd jam daily or not. How tf they wrote that album is beyond me. Defs AOTY for me so far too, but this is in the close ranks though. I appreciate the maturity of the songwriting here more than anything else. Such a great use of negative space and restraint. Don't see that much in the genre.

I must admit that I actually prefer extremely dense song writing, leaving little negative space and minimising restraint more in this kind of extreme dissonant death metal (but I can appreciate that, taken 'too' far, it can render the music extremely exhausting to listen to).
