Yea fine is the word. Teemu's lead playing is excellent unsuprisingly, though he's only dipping the tip in of what he can do. Mustaine isn't quite the riffmeister he once was, but Tipping point especially shows he still has tricks up his weathered sleeve.
The main problems for me are the production, and vocals. It has the typical dry and overproduced modern trash sound which I loathe. Give me some fucking reverb, like even a little bit. Some air to breathe. Not everything has to sound overly "tight" and sterile. Rust in Peace sounded so natural and allowed the musicians to show their prowess and create the tightness themselves rather than relying on production tricks. The vocals are abysmal, like an old hermit who's lost his cough syrup

If you’ve been with Megadeth for the whole ride this is a 3.
If you have no loyalty to or affinity with the band then I totally expect some 1.0-2.0 ratings.
I have had years of training to somewhat ignore Dave’s shaky vox and self serious lyrics.

Say what you want about Dave or Megadeth but these last albums are still better than any of the shit Metallica has put out for several years now.
They have sucked since St Anger.

would rather see Megadeth live today over Metallica yeah

Exactly Tayne.
Also, since we are talking about Megadeth, obligatory reference:

Love both bands but Megadeth is far more consistent and aged better over their career. Metallica write the hooks and are more accessible, but post-Black they've been generally average at best with several embarrassing lows like St. Anger and Lulu. Everything after those is pretty mid except for a few stellar songs like Spit Out The Bone, Inamorata, That Was Just Your Life, etc.

I've never bothered with St. Anger or Lulu and I never will. All I know is that this album is absolute doggy doo doo.

'Honestly Dave sounds like Biden on this record'
He sounds his age pretty much, but what do people want? - tell the man to just give up before he wants to despite there still being an audience for new Megadeth? Or hire a new singer who...sounds like Mustaine in his prime? Does anyone sound like that?
Album is fine for people who've remained on board for the last two decades.

I rate the recent Metallica and Megadeth about the same tbh
Metallica have remained more 'muscular' in their sound and I think normies wouldn't burst out laughing to Hetfield's vocals where they would with Mustaine's. Their riffs are v samey now though, as are the solos, and they're still in thrall of 'the blues' a lot of the time since 'Load'.
Megadeth have way more interesting lead work/solos and seem more in synch with what their long term fans want. They're more like the American Iron Maiden in that way - just for the fans at this stage.
