This being this bizarre and having this much swagger at the same time is a fucking achievement alright

this is neat. on first listen the prog was very Ihsahn-y kinda riffing, but far more aggressively than he typically does.

Precipice? Darn, it sounds like a polish village name. It would be "Prepussyville" or sth...
PS. Overwhelming album.

Between this and Veilburner I’m really enjoying this weird ass metal, feels fresh.

no. this isn't average. technically a 2.8, but a 3 would imply I'd like to listen to it many times over, which I don't

bm can be bm and still have some interesting melodies. i dont feel that here, personally

It doesn't sound like that's what they were going for.

I threw up a quick review of this on another site after listening a few times. Gonna have to go into their old stuff.

let me elaborate on what I said I bit

I understand the gothic/funeral sound they were going for. Let's just say that they had found a way to mix what Carlos Viloa did in the original Blasphemous OST with some sweet bm, then for me, this would be epic

trust that I love that "sound" and would love nothing more than for someone to make that happen

I don't hear any gothic/funeral anything here lol. This reminds me a lot of something that a band like Akercocke would do.

You did say they blend gothic metal in the review though :|

Let me rephrase, there are bits and pieces of goth elements, but its not a mainstay here and there are no funeral elements imo. The eerie, quieter parts are def gothic influenced, but its not the main ingredient so its hard for me to see someone not liking just because of that. To each their own though lol.
