def JFAC, but their progression is more apparent. they toned the deathcore way down on their first album and just got increasingly more technical. acacia was putting out the same ignorant tunes for so long then randomly hit us with a 27 min doom track on coma witch kickstarting their evolution. even if it’s still very ignorant it’s far more tasteful, esp the pure doom stuff

It Comes In Waves was definitely a turning point for these guys. The way they integrated the doom/sludge/post metal influences into their sound was a very interesting and fruitful evolution of the group. Since they released that, they've been on top form.

all mentioned in this review haha! great points though. it is insane.

but yeah observer is an incredible song. more people need to go back and check that one out. i still think it's probably their best song.

I’m still confused on the story in Observer. Is it supposed to be someone in a coma after a car crash or someone attempting a murder suicide with their SO?

nothing concrete there are a lot of interpretations. this youtube comment seems to be accepted and what vincents explanation is.

"This track is about a guy that has sleep issues / night terrors. He falls asleep at night and has terrors about killing his wife (the part with the female is his wife talking to him during a terror).

One night he wakes up in the woods covered in blood, he discovers that he actually killed his wife. He gets in his car/truck and somehow crashes it. He ends up in a coma in the hospital and he is stuck in a constant terror, him killing his wife over and over again. Hence "face a fate thats worse than death".

Pretty intense concept, Vincent said he wanted to try to make this a movie. I'd watch it."

As for JFAC, they were the carricatural bree band, of course they'd change their music, it was as inevitable as them growing up lol

In absolute agreement - this may even be sort of a breakthrough album for them.

I've always wanted them to do a follow up to It Comes in Waves. Love me some good Cosmic Horror.
