Yep this rules and while you could say the first 2 albums were more extreme for their era, this is as heavy as anything they've ever done. This is also my favorite thing they've done since The Gathering I think, and I like just about all of their albums.

Nice write up. Not crazy about the album but it’s solid. I prefer the classic, riff-driven groovy Testament to this more DM version. Still, I respect them trying something fresh.

I was thinking the same thing. Dragonlord rules so hard, so underrated. Black Wings of Destiny is a top-tier symphonic bm album.

yeah this is def in the upper echolon of their discography which is a crazy fucking thing to say for a band this seasoned. metallica could never (saying this despite often being a modern metallica defender)
