She should just switch to full AI. I don't think it would make much of a difference in the music. She has enough content to train an AI model on.
Hologram world tour, another billy. Do it taylor. Commit to the bit.

A lot's been said but I didn't really think this is that bad. Music is catchy and fun. Very shallow. Occasionally cringey. Nothing shocking about it.

I get the hate for the lyrics and pretty much covered that in my review, but I don't see how anyone could pass on some of these melodies. The songs may be mostly vapid, but they're bops. Subjective in nature for sure, but finding Swift's music catchy isn't really a bold or divergent statement lol.

The opener isn't bad, and even the 2 songs afterward aren't completely awful, but the rest is really terrible. Why did she stop trying after those 3 songs?

I actually read the discussion here, and Iâm a little confused. & really tired from work, so happy to be distracted by this:
I think this album is lyrically less pretentious than her previous one. That said, itâs still at about the literary level of sophomores, with some ood girl innuendos picked up from her little brother, visuals inspired by Scorseseâs Gatsby, and so on...But this is what this country's literacy level can muster.
That said, songs like Ophelia and Opalite are very very catchy. The closing track with Sabrina, surprisingly, isnât. But itâs hard to say thisâor, for that matter, her earlier musicâis bad. Itâs not. Itâs pleasant and popular for good reason.
The âoatmealâ attack is weird. This is mainstream pop music. What do you expect? Experimental noise? 90s garage band midwest emo ripped from that one website we all downloaded from? Come on.
As for the âdiaryâ aspect- I mean, thatâs her whole appeal. Her fans want to keep participating in her life this way. Thatâs the genre, basking in Tay Tay's aura...I donât give a shit about her 10yo beefs, but young women do, so they get lyrics about them. If they are able to relate, good for them?
And Iâm not sure what the photos above are supposed to prove. Taylorâs secretly a Nazi? A Trumpist? Come on.
I think itâs fair to say she doesnât stand for much. Her success comes from essentializing white American womanhood in a pleasant enough way.
If we want to get really critical, we could talk about âimperial whitenessâ or whatever...but who in the mainstream is any different? Thatâs what American music is, what American centrist politics are, what American cinema is too...
Taylor is the American empire in its best light: a little dem-y, a little girly, a little more pleasant, and a little less scary. Compared to the big boyfriend. With his big wood, and uproar on the field, and whatnot. She's the Kamala singing pop rock soundtrack for her Stephen Miller.
It's the Desperate Housewives, the Gilmore Girls, the whatever HBO show we take. Well crafted, ultimately shallow, pseudo progressive cleavage for centrist/conservative beliefs. And it's hot. And rich, because we like rich people who have our problems and don't care about riches. Critique absent criticism.
It's the 6/10 college girl White Lotus. But does that mean it's *bad*? I guess depending on what you expect...
Ok, enough, going to sleep lol.

Edit:
Hmm. Perhaps what has changed is that she's pretending less to stand for anything than before? You grow older and just care less about masking your ultimately conservative desires (money, house, family) under the pseudo-progressive vibe. But now that I'm thinking about it, perhaps there's something to be said that the nostalgic aesthetic is not accidental, and that there's been a tone shift together with that in the society/politics. A little Lana Del Rey than Cozy Girl Autumn...I guess the song "Cancelled" is surprising when contrasted with her public previous persona â I wouldn't have expected it, tbf.

Oh so it's very bland got it

Itâs not as bland as her last record but it is somehow worse if that makes sense

I would have to listen to either and I'm just not going to do that

I see what you mean, but I think I'd much rather listen to this; she just sounds more natural over pop instrumentation as opposed to whatever was going on for the majority of TTPD, even if the lyrics are somehow worse.

I mean she always been kinda non offensive easy on the ears pop songwriter...so not really that high of a hill to fall. She's just following footsteps of every popstar that ever was. I'm sure she'll drop a random album we will go crazy for.

@chris
Ya you get it. This thing is a fucking trainwreck but Tortured Poets is like spending a day at the DMV. Yeah, a trainwreck is undeniably worse, but itâs for sure more exciting than the fucking DMV.
@razeen
That already happened tho, Folklore is by far the best thing sheâs ever done and unless she teams up with more talented songwriters sheâll never drop anything that good again.
