It's been a joy listening to this and it being GOOD and not just a shadow of a Cardiacs album. I've listened to Woodeneye on loop since it came out

Finding it strange this is the Cardiacs album it’s most easy to listen to start to finish and generally the most everyday appealing. Much smoother listen, can’t really fault it.

So many good cuts on here. Gen all the way to Busty Beez might take it for best run of Cardiacs tunes. So overjoyed this finally came out. Probably bumping this up by the end of the year lol

Skating is truly something else. Best song here easily.

I actually can't decide which is my favorite so I will rank them all later. But it is literally impossible to choose one.

Had heard they initially wanted Devin Townsend to handle the mix on the album and he wanted to, but couldn't because of other commitments. Massive shame as I would have loved to hear how he would have interpreted this album.

As an added bonus I'm surprised not many have mentioned, it's a fitting end to the album that Pet Fezant, which is also technically the last Cardiacs song written as the lyrics were written by Tim's partner after he died (I think), closes the book on the band by having the original Cardiac Arrest vocalist, Mick Pugh, contributing vocals.

They also remastered Faster Than Snakes With A Ball And A Chain for an EP earlier this year. I know that Tim mentioned way back that some material from the lost album of 1999-2002 survived and may see the light of day at some point, but he refused to re-record what was lost because he felt you can't recreate the moment again. But maybe this won't be the last "new" Cardiacs we'll ever hear, if Jim decides that the surviving material from that era is worth putting out. Obviously the priority was getting LSD done though.

It's a crying shame Tim isn't around to see the critical adulation this album is getting, considering the mainstream music press often hated Cardiacs in their heyday.
